Volunteer opportunities at Forget Me Not Farm
Volunteers are the lifeblood of any non-profit organization and Forget Me Not Children’s Services is no exception. Dedicated volunteers are essential to the ongoing success of our programs and we offer many volunteer opportunities for those who want to “give back” to the community.
Volunteerism is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, gain insight, grow personally, and help build a better society.

Farm Volunteer
Farm volunteers are needed Monday through Friday to help with the various groups of children who visit our program. The time commitment is small, just 60-90 minutes per week and an occasional related workshop once or twice a year. Placements are made according to schedule and need into a group of volunteers that help us do animal husbandry, and agricultural related activities with the children. The work is physical in nature, and focused on experiential process-oriented learning.
The volunteers and the children work side by side and use cooperation to tend to the animals and the gardens. This is a rewarding and dynamic volunteer position that offers opportunities to reconnect with the animals and the land, and forge new relationship with the special children that attend our program. We ask volunteers for a 1-year commitment, and they must be at least 18 years old and pass a standard background check.

Create connection. Give back. Get your hands dirty.
Support a Powerful Mission: Forget Me Not Farm is a sanctuary where children, animals, and nature come together to heal. For over 30 years, we’ve provided animal-assisted and horticultural therapy to at-risk youth—breaking the cycle of abuse and neglect through connection, compassion, and care. By volunteering, your company directly contributes to this healing process and supports a cause that makes a real difference in the lives of vulnerable youth and abused/neglected animals.
Team Building: Working together on hands-on tasks like gardening, animal care and farm maintenance encourages collaboration, communication and camaraderie among employees. It’s a refreshing break from the office that strengthens workplace relationships.
Employee Wellness and Morale: Spending time outdoors, engaging with animals, and doing physical work can reduce stress and boost mental health… so can the feeling of giving back and supporting vulnerable communities! Time at our farm is peaceful and beautiful- though folks may leave dirty and sweaty- we also hear they feel more fulfilled and motivated after their visit!
Corporate Social Responsibility: Participating in a day of service aligns with CSR goals and demonstrates your company’s commitment to giving back to the local community. It enhances your brand image and can be shared in marketing and internal communications.

Mentoring
Mentoring Sonoma County’s youth through our vocational training program. Mentors are matched with a teen and together they become a dynamic volunteer duo helping at the Forget Me Not Farm and the Sonoma Humane Society to care for our animals. This 2 hour per week commitment is a great opportunity to maximize your volunteer power and help both homeless and rescued animals and teens that need guidance. Volunteers must be at least 21 years old, and willing to make a 6 month commitment.
