MEET THE STAFF
Carol Rathmann, Director and Founder. Carol developed and has directed Forget Me Not Farm since its beginnings in 1992. With more than 35 years experience in humane education and animal welfare, Ms. Rathmann holds a Master’s Degree in Psychology with studies focused on the benefits of animal assisted and horticultural therapy to child victims of abuse and neglect, as well as certification from Harcum College (1998) as a Specialist in Animal Assisted Activities and Therapy. She is the recipient of many national awards recognizing her for her innovative work in the prevention of child and animal abuse. Carol lives on a small farm along with 15 + animals she has rescued.

Nathan Rathmann, Farm Manager.Nathan Rathmann, Farm Manager.
Nathan first worked as a volunteer at Forget Me Not Farm during his senior year of high school. He worked at a local animal shelter for 6 years while completing his undergraduate degree at the University of California Santa Cruz. He has been the Farm Manager since 2005. Nathan coordinates all groups and volunteers who participate in the animal assisted therapy program. He oversees the general health and well-being of all of the Farm residents and tends to the ½+ acre of therapeutic gardens.

Chelsea WoodworthChelsea Woodworth, Weekend Caretaker. Chelsea is a college student who started working at the Farm in 2007 as a volunteer. Her job was pulling weeds. She was hired in 2008 as the weekend caretaker for the resident animals and gardens. Chelsea continues to volunteer as her school schedule allows and loves to share her special bulb garden that she designed, planted and maintains in a special area of the Farm.

Beth KarzesBeth Karzes is a credentialed elementary education teacher with 10 years of experience teaching kindergarten through high school age students. She uses curriculum based programs that meet the California State Teaching Standards, and has created an in-depth humane education program at the Humane Society. Beth currently serves on the national Board of A.P.H.E. (Association of Professional Humane Educators) and has been a member since 2005. She is actively involved with the Sonoma County Office of Education (SCOE), and offers her humane education program to all school districts in Sonoma County. Beth also mentors teens in the Animal Welfare Apprentice program, teaching them important career skills and animal welfare practices. Beth’s teachings encourage the bond between animals and children, thus creating a future generation of compassionate animal caregivers.
