The Gardens
Girl and flower
T
he therapeutic garden at Forget Me Not Farm are a safe place, full or promise, where everyone is welcome.

The experience of gardening offers the opportunity for a child to learn about life cycles. Children plant seeds in the early spring and protect and nurture them in our “hot house” until the ground is warm enough for the seedlings to be transplanted into the big garden. The children become part of a nurturing series of relationships in which seeds grow into vegetables and flowers, and adults grow into trusted and protective guides and mentors.

The grounds are spacious enough for the children to have a variety of gardens; a flower garden for cutting, a butterfly and hummingbird garden, an edible (herb) kitchen garden, and a salsa garden just to name a few. There are raised beds to hold the root vegetables and many different types of containers holding a mixture of vegetables and flowers. People and animals alike share the bounty from all of the gardens. When a child spends time in the garden, he or she is likely to feel calm and relaxed.
The earth has great healing power
